Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
