Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official stated the attack made him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
